Man shoots at police in Salo

A man shot at police in Salo while, in another incident, the police recovered firearms from the premises of Bandidos, a motorcycle club in Tampere, on Tuesday.
 
The two police officers, who were inside a police car during the shooting in Salo, were not injured.
 
The shooter, a 24-year old man, was known to the police prior to the incident.
 
The emergency response centre had earlier been informed that a man in possession of a long firearm was walking along the motorcycle path in Halikko.

The police who went to the area spotted a man who fit the description.

When the police approached to the man, he fired several shots towards the police car.
 
The two police officers who were inside the car were not injured, but the aftermath of the shooting left several bullet marks on the car.
 
The police are investigation the incident as a case of attempted murder.

In the other incident on the day, the police recovered two rifles, two hand guns as well as some documents from the premises of Bandidos, a motorcycle club in Tampere.
 
More than 30 police from the National Bureau of Investigation and the inland Finland police department took part in the operation that started at 9:00am following suspicion of the motorcycle group’s involvement in crime.
 
According to the police, the operation which lasted for six hours did not pose any danger to bystanders.

An area of the Vehmaistenkatu, the street in which the motorcycle club is located, was cordoned off during the operation as a safety measure.

The police did not encounter resistance and no person was detained during the raid.
