A foundation stone for a national monument in memory of the Winter War was laid in Kasarmitori Square on the anniversary day.
Several war veterans including 200 invited guests attended the ceremony at the Kasarmitori Square.
President Sauli Niinistö was also present.
The Winter War memorial monument named “Bringer of Light” is designed by sculpture Pekka Kauhanen and will be unveiled to the public during Winter War anniversary in 2017.
Former president Martti Ahtisaari is the patron of the Winter War memorial monument project.
