Juha Sipilä, the chair of largest parliamentary party Suomen Keskusta (Centre Party) on Monday said roughly four billion euros in direct savings was being prepared as talks to form the next government resumed.

Speaking during the first press conference of the week, Sipilä said the first draft from the working group on the economy is scheduled to be ready on Tuesday morning.

"Afterwards, the package will be passed to other groups for examination and the economic group focus will shift momentarily to taxation and finding of short-term structural reforms," Sipilä said.

Decision on the currently 4 billion euros in savings under discussion has to be made at least during the current parliamentary term.

The cuts are part of 10 billion economic plan envisaged to bridge the sustainability gap.

According to Sipilä, the major adjustments are intended to be carried through short and long-term structural reforms.

On Monday evening, Sipilä was still expecting the draft from the working group discussing the social welfare and health care reform.

"We will discuss it on Tuesday afternoon," he said.

According to Sipilä, the decision on the economic package will hopefully be made on Sunday evening.

"I am looking forward that by Sunday evening we would be able to make these decisions," he said.

According to Sipilä, the work should be completed by next week on Wednesday after which concrete figures and actions will be made public.
