FTimes-STT Report, May 19

Currently, the Peshmerga troops are fighting the extremist organisation Isis in the Kurdish region.

Finland’s participation in the campaign against Isis is considered to have some risks.

The biggest threat to the Finnish Defence Forces is the danger posed to those closest to the soldiers.

Therefore, the identity of the soldier will not be disclosed and their appearance on the media will be curtailed.

According to Brigadier General Petri Hulkko, hundreds from Western countries have left to fight alongside Isis.

“We cannot take risks that those close to the soldiers are threatened or become subject of threat,” Hulkko said.

This is a unique situation, according to Hulkko, since Isis has threatened to attack the Western countries that are battling the organisation.
