Security preparedness increases in Finland

The Prime Minister, Juha Sipilä condemned the terrorist attacks in Finland that cause death of number of people late Friday night.

The PM also expressed profound shock at the killings, said a government press release on Saturday.

"The government of Finland strongly condemns the terrorist attacks carried out in France. They were also an attack against our democratic and open societies. Even after such attacks, we must not give space for fear and intolerance," said Sipilä.

In his tweet last night, Sipilä also said: "Our thoughts are in France."

He has expressed the condolences of the Finnish government to the French Prime Minister Manuel Valls.

The chairmen of the components of three-party alliance government , Minister of the Interior, and State Secretary of the Prime Minister's Office held a telephone conference this morning, and will do so again during the forenoon. The Finnish government in prepared to convene in the afternoon. 

The Finnish Police has increased its preparedness following the terrorist attacks in Paris. 

Also the Ministry for Foreign Affairs has closely followed the unfolding of the events during the night.
