Sexual harassment has decreased in the Parliamentary Office, according to an employee satisfaction survey.

The survey said that only five officials had experienced sexual harassment. None of the assistants indicated that they had experienced any harassment.

Two years earlier, a similar survey showed six people experiencing sexual harassment. Four years ago, the number of harassed employees was 16.

Parliamentary administrator Pertti Rauhio said that, ahead of the survey, no one had complained of sexual harassment to, for example, their supervisor or occupational health care services.

“Even if no further action is taken, we don't consider these cases of sexual harassment insignificant, because bringing these complaints forward can be difficult for the person involved,” said Rauhio.

A total of 344 people, or about 60% of the Parliamentary Office personnel, responded to the survey.
