The District Court of Espoo on Thursday convicted a man for killing his wife in Järvenperä in July last year and sentenced him to 12 years’ imprisonment.

The court awarded the punishment after a psychiatric assessment established that the convicted person was aware of his actions.

According to the verdict, the man strangled his wife with an electric cable and with his hands.

After killing the wife, he dismembered the body and put the remains in five bags which he left at the roadside. The bags were discovered by a person walking a dog.

Finally, the convicted man set the apartment on fire in order to cover his tracks.

The 26-year-old man was sentenced for murder, desecration of grave, criminal damage and assault.

The convict will carry out the entire sentence in prison.
