The police have been requested to investigate a land purchase by Deputy Parliamentary Ombudsman Maija Sakslin, reported the Finnish language tabloid Iltalehti.

Sakslin bought a plot of land in the Sipoo archipelago in 2008. She paid 1,000 euros for the 4,000 square metres of land, according to the newspaper.

According to a relative of the 92-year-old seller, in addition to a cash payment, the buyers promised to cut the grass around the family farm’s main building until the elderly person would give up the property.

The police told the news agency STT that a prosecutor will decide whether to investigate into the matter or not.

Sakslin told the Iltalehti that she would not comment on the matter until after the police have looked into the matter.

The ombudsman and deputy ombudsman monitor observance of the law by courts and other authorities and public officials as well as fulfilment of their obligations.
