Easter Sunday will be observed all over the country today as elsewhere the globe marking the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.

People belonging to the Christian community were already started the celebration from the good Friday in various manners including lighting bonfires, wearing new Easter cloths and exchanging gifts and greeting cards.

Easter bonfires have been lit on Saturday at many places especially in Helsinki and Pohjanmaa, reported news agency STT.

Bonfire originated from an old belief of  turning the witches aside through such move.

The Pohjanmaa youth association organized various programme on Saturday evening where the children wear special Easter dress and visited door to door with the greetings of the Easter and found receiving gifts from the people.

Easter Day is being celebrated in the Christian world as a festival marking Jesus rose from the dead and lives foreverJesus had told his followers before his arrest that he would be crucified and on the third day he would rise from the dead. Sunday was the third day from the Good Friday.
