The Interior Minister, Päivi Räsänen demanded that the practices of providing treatment through spiritual methods should be stopped by enacting law.

Terming the treatment process based on various beliefs as unscientific, the minister pointed out that the neighbouring country Sweden already had imposed ban on such treatment and Finland should also do so.

“Finland should stop the treatments of belief to small children and seriously ill patients,” she told in a newsletter.

The minister said that for the seriously ill patients the law should allow only the treatment methods that were more effective and proved safe scientifically.

Enactment of such law would protect the ill people from the spiritual treatments that are harmful, said the interior minister.
