As many as 80 Jopo bicycles were stolen from different areas in Jyväskylä during this summer, Middle Finland police said on Thursday.

Police said they arrested three persons in connections with the serial theft.

The police suspect the arrested young men were involved with the gang which committed the thefts.

The stolen bikes were sold on the Internet at a rate ranging from EUR 60 to EUR 120, said the police, adding that the price was much lower than the original.

The police said most of the stolen bicycles were sold out fast because of the low price.

They also said the purchasers might also be charged with negligence of checking before buying the bikes.
