More than 100 municipality corporations are currently involved in statutory negotiations aimed at cost saving through personnel reductions, said a report from the Trade Union for the Public and Welfare Sectors-JHL.
According to JHL, 17 municipalities or municipality corporations have decided to use redundancy this year. The number of employees made redundant is approximately 250.
According to JHL estimates, Kouvola is leading with 37 employees facing axe followed by Kirkkonummi where 26 employees face a similar fate.
The majority of municipalities have used austerity packages and retirements in place of redundancies.
Statutory negotiations have this year been initiated in 62 municipalities, nine education consortiums, three hospital districts and one church.
