The Wildlife Park authority said that the issue of death became clear through watching the video footage. The activities of the newly born cubs were being followed through video camera since December 4. The footage of the most important surveillance camera was too dark but the other cameras showed that the cubs were still alive. The deaths were confirmed on Saturday morning when the nurse visited the nest. The mother and the cubs were monitored closely with the help of surveillance cameras and microphones. It was expected that the cubs would weigh up to nearly 10 kilograms in few months and stroll out with their mother. Reproduction of polar bears in captivity is rare. For the cubs, the first 24 hours after birth are the most critical, since a third of the newly born cubs die. Half of the newly born cubs die before they are five days old. A polar bear named Ranzo was the first to be born in captivity three years ago. More News
