A third suspect in an ongoing terrorism case in the country has been set free, lead investigator Mika Ihaksinen from the National Bureau of Investigation told news agency STT.

However, a travel ban imposed on the man is to be continued. A similar ban had earlier been imposed on another suspect. This suspect sentenced in absentia has not been found yet, revealed Ihaksinen. The suspect is reportedly living abroad.

According to a report by national broadcaster YLE, in addition to terrorism suspicion, it is alleged that a VAT fraud would have been instigated to raise money to travel to Syria.

The fraud suspicion is related to construction companies floated in the names of other suspects.

The suspicions are also related to a humanitarian organisation whose banner some suspects had revealed they had used to travel to Syria.

According to YLE, the police suspect the travelling was not linked only to charity.
