Prime Minister Alexander Stubb on Saturday admitted that his government has not been successful in certain things during its eight-month tenure.

The premier expressed his opinion in an interview during the Prime Minster Interview Hour programme on Yle Radio.

"In my opinion this has not been a successful government. It has done some things well, but in certain things it has failed," said Stubb.

Stubb said that the truth should always be told when asked whether political parties will scowl even more as usual when parliamentary election nears.

The premier pointed out that one has to be realistic on what could be accomplished in eight-month period.

Stubb also divulged that he will issue a prime minister’s notice on the progress of the structural policy programme. The notice will be submitted to parliament in the beginning of March.

"It is a kind of statement on what was accomplished," said Stubb.

All the political parties, according to Stubb, should have a similar view on the economic situation and the required fiscal adjustments.

He said that he fears that some positive economic news could make some parties forget the fact that structural adjustments are necessary.
