A plan to introduce sanctions on taxi drivers who turn down customer orders is being envisaged in South-West Finland, reported Finnish language daily, Turun Sanomat.
 
A programme has been tested in the coastal town of Turku whereby a two-hour barricade is imposed on a taxi drivers if found to have rejected two orders within a span of an hour.
 
The newspaper reported that in the past some taxi drivers have selected rides such as trip to hospitals.
 
According to Turun Sanomat, some taxi drivers preferred lucrative Kela reimbursed rides from where they earn more compared to shorter trips which earned them less.
