The second supplementary budget which includes 112 million euros to safeguard the operations of nickel mining company Talvivaara was approved in the last plenary session of the parliament before the lawmakers went for summer break on Tuesday.

The supplementary budget is the first during Prime Minister Juha Sipilä tenure.

The opposition parties Suomen Sosialidemokraattinen Puolue (Social Democratic Party of Finland) and Vasemmistoliitto (Left Alliance) during the debate raised the need for urgent additional appropriations to spur employment.

The opposition parties called the government to present supplementary budget aimed at supporting employment immediately at the beginning of the autumn session. The two parties raised the first joint objection to the government's supplementary budget.

The parliament session will resume on 8th September after the summer vacation.

The parliament will not be sitting and there will be no parliamentary business apart from Grand Committee meetings, confirmed a release.
