The former foreign minister Erkki Tuomioja MP has urged the Perussuomalaiset (Finns Party) Chair and the Foreign Minister Timo Soinilta to take action regarding the scandalous statement of party lawmaker Olli Immonen.

In the comment published on Facebook, Immonen said he had “a dream of a strong state that would overcome this nightmare named multiculturalism.”

The text was published in English and it was also seen on the Finnish Sisu organisation’s website.

Tuomioja in his Facebook on Sunday wrote that the Finnish Foreign Minister should not remain silent about his party representative's actions.

According to Tuomioja, it seems that at the moment, the Perussuomalaiset chairman  may remain silent with his opinion on the scandal.

Tuomioja said such an action is not appropriate for a foreign minister.

“As the party leader, he seems either too weak or taking the opportunity to address this within his Finnish Sisu group of friends - this organisation and these types of internal battles are those of which I'd already warned of some years ago. As foreign minister he should understand how signals like this are read elsewhere and how it comes across if a party MP presents in this manner and is subsequently not spoken to”, Tuomioja wrote.

Tuomioja also said that the Prime Minister Juha Sipilä should have an opinion on the matter.
