 A fierce fire burned down a large factory building in Kotka, southern Finland on Friday night, reported local media on Saturday.

     The factory building, which is approximately 1,900 square meters, belongs to Eagle Filters Company, said Finnish daily Turun Sanomat.

     According to the Kymenlaakso fire brigade, the fire began from the attic and spread quickly to the whole building. The blaze was brought under control by the fire brigade in the early morning of Saturday.

     The large factory building was completely destroyed. The fire caused no casualties, as no one in the factory building when the fire broke out.

     Residents living nearby were evacuated. The disaster brought about a considerable material damage to the company, said the daily. The cause of the fire is still under police investigation.
