Vuorio told the Finnish language daily Kaleva that asylum seekers who wish to bring family members to Finland should be charged a few hundred euros.
Currently, the application processing is free of charge.
The processing of reunification applications for those who have received asylum and their family members requires new employees and funding from the state.
Vuorio said the department wants more than 200 new employees to handle the influx of asylum applications.
This year, they have already hired 160 new employees.
According to Vuorio, there are already enough applicants for the open asylum places.
