President Sauli Niinistö on Thursday pardoned four prisoners. In three cases, the president pardoned aggravated drug convictions.

Altogether two years and eight months of prison time were shaved from the sentences handed down in the drug convictions.

In one case, a convict sentenced to six years’ imprisonment for felony drug offences was pardoned to parole until July 31, 2016. The convict began serving the sentence in January 2013.

In another case, a convict had been sentenced first to 144 hours of community service for drug and assault charges, then his sentence changed to five months’ imprisonment without condition.

Niinistö completely pardoned the prisoner.
