Member of European Parliament Paavo Väyrynen demanded clarity in the country’s foreign political policy.

Väyrynen on Sunday wrote in his blog that there appears to be a conspiracy behind Finland’s foreign and security policies.

He wrote that it is also difficult to determine who is directing the government’s new foreign and security policies.

“Finland’s foreign and security policies seem to be driven by a conspiracy of politicians, business leaders and [military] officers, who are supported by the media. The appointment of Jyri Häkämies at EK [Confederation of Finnish Industries] was not an accident,” Väyrynen wrote.

According to Väyrynen, even before the recent parliamentary elections, a number of economic leaders put pressure on politicians to support Finnish membership of NATO.

In February, when he was serving as a Suomen Keskusta (Centre Party) member of European Parliament, Väyrynen announced to form a political party. He later formed the party under the name of Kansalaispuolue (Citizen’s Party).

In April, he also made public the party emblem designed with a leaping Salmon in a blue-green logo.

The new party plans to participate in the next parliamentary elections slated for 2019.
