FTimes-Xinhua Report, Oct 13

A man alleged of sexually abusing his underage daughter has been caught in Norway and extradited to Finland for a trial, local media reported on Wednesday.

Finnish language newspaper Kaleva reported the man has a foreign background and previously lived in Oulu, northwestern Finland. Finnish media did not mention his nationality.

The suspect allegedly raped his daughter for a long time during 1999-2008 in Oulu. At the beginning of the offence, his daughter was only nine years old.

The girl had been pregnant and had abortions several times. She also gave birth to a child to his father.

The prosecutor announced charges against the man with aggravated sexual abuse of a child. The Oulu District Court processed the case in July this year and decided to arrest the suspect in absentia later in September.

Norwegian authorities caught him in Norway last week, and he was extradited to Finland earlier this week.

On Wednesday, the alleged was held in custody pending trial in the Oulu District Court. The trial will be carried out in two weeks, said the newspaper.
