The consequences of climate change are already affecting the Finnish animal species that are dependent on snow and ice, according to the environment conservation organisation WWF.

A WWF report says global warming has affected, among others, the Arctic fox, wolverine, Saimaa ringed seal, salmon, and waterfowl.

For example, wolverines and Saimaa ringed seals are threatened by the loss of suitable nesting snow drifts. Salmons are suffering from the warm waters, with their winter water being affected by the storm rains.

The Arctic region is warming, warns the WWF, twice as fast as any other region on the planet.
