Interior Minister Päivi Räsänen on Saturday said the issue of child benefit cuts was not specified in the budget proposal and suggested for a clear proposal in this regard.

She also said that the benefits should be different for every category of children so that each category gets same benefits irrespective of family income and parents.

The minister said the benefits for single-parent children should not be reduced and the number of children should be brought under consideration before cutting the benefits.

For example, the minister said, if the earning of a person is EUR 3,000 a month, it could be considered sufficient. But, she maintained that the amount alone should not be the factor in making the benefit cuts, the number of children should also be considered in this regard.
