The police have launched an investigation into the responsibilities of various actors following the monster truck accident on Saturday.
 
The accident happened on Saturday at Alahärmä, Kauva when the monster truck’s wheel came off and landed on the spectators during the Power Truck Show.
 
The police are investigating, among other things, negligence on the part of the organisers.
 
Inspector Pauli Latvanen from the Ostrobothnia police department said the investigation will last several days.
 
For its part, the Safety Investigation Authority is scheduled to look into the accident on Monday.
 
Teuvo Arolainen, the director of communication at Safety Investigation Authority said the authority had already gathered basic information on the accident. The next step is to decide whether the body should begin investigations.
 
Contrary to earlier reports, only four people were rushed to hospital after the Power Park monster truck accident in Seinäjoki.
 
Two of the accident victims were seriously injured while two suffered minor injuries, confirmed the hospital’s medical director, Hannu Puolijoki.
 
One of the seriously injured is a 5-year-old boy. He was transferred from Seinäjoki to Tampere University Hospital. The hospital on Sunday afternoon said the boy’s condition was stable. 
 
Latest reports which emerged on Sunday evening said the boy was transferred to the hospital’s intensive care unit for normal observation.
 
The boy’s father was admitted to an ICU at a hospital in Seinäjoki. His condition, according to the medical director was stable and not life threatening. He was later discharged from the ICU.
 
The show was a side event of a transport and vehicle exhibition held at the Power Park area.
 
According to the Power Truck Show organisers, Crazy Driver, an external operator was responsible for the monster truck event.
 
The Power Truck Show has been held 11 times, and the monster truck event has also been held there for several years.
 
“He has 15 years’ experience and has also toured abroad,” said Hannele Loukasmäki from the Power Truck Show describing the driver of the monster truck.
